Auto Tweet your Blog Posts using FeedBurner

There are many Feed to Twitter or post to Twitter services that posts your RSS feed updates to your Twitter accounts. One of such service is TwitterFeed. Yes, TwitterFeed works great and is very popular. But, what if you want a TwitterFeed alternative? Here comes Google to help you! Use the ‘Socialize’ feature in Google FeedBurner service and automatically feed your blog to Twitter.

Google recently added a new ‘Socialize’ feature to it’s popular FeedBurner service. With this new feature, FeedBurner will automatically post your feed updates to your Twitter account. So, no need to login to your Twitter account frequently to post tweets mentioning your blog updates. Leave it to FeedBurner and focus more on your regular Twitter activities.

How to use the ‘Socialize’ feature? If you are already burning your RSS feed via FeedBurner, login to your account and go to the ‘Socialize’ service on the ‘Publicize’ tab. Then add the Twitter account to which you want to post your feed items. FeedBurner do offer some formatting options so that you can customize which feed items goes to Twitter and how how your tweets look. You may post the feed title, title and body, or just the body as the tweet. If you choose to include a link to your original post, FeedBurner will automatically shorten your URLs using the Google URL shortener at goo.gl domain. You can also add hash tags and your own custom text to your tweet.

So, customize your tweets by using those available options and activate theĀ  Socialize service. That’s it! Next time when your RSS feed is updated with a new item (after you added a new post to your blog), FeedBurner will automatically post a tweet to your Twitter account. Note that, the Socialize feature can post up to 5 of your RSS feed items to twitter at a time. Try it today.
