Last week, popular blogging platform Blogger has added a new “following” feature that will enable you to follow other’s blogs and view the latest posts from the blogs you follow, right from your Blogger dashboard. And like MyBlogLog, this new feature will allow you to show off your followers by adding the “Followers Gadget” on your blog’s sidebar. So, this new feature will help in building a sense of community among the users of Blogger blogging platform.

Using Blogger platform? You can browse your blog followers from the Dashboard and see what blogs they write and read the other blog’s that they’re following. On the other hand, from the Dashboard itself, you can add and manage your following list. You can follow any blog from your reading list, even blogs that haven’t added the Followers widget or aren’t hosted on Blogger.

Your followers can stay updated with your blog through the “Reading List” section that Blogger has added to the Dashboard. The “Blogs I’m Following” tab on this section automatically shows the latest posts from all the blogs you are following. The interesting point is that, you can also access all the posts from the blogs you are following, in a special “Blogs I’m Following” section on your Google Reader account.
So, this new feature indicates that Blogger is moving towards social networking. In a blog post announcing the launch of the Following feature, Blogger already mentioned that they are also in the process of integrating Google Friend Connect with the popular blogging platform. It means that, in the coming days we can expect to see some more interesting features on Blogger. Till then, start following blogs and expend your community inside Blogger platform.

I have just started to test Blogger. This feature looks like a good one. But, I can see that people are not using the gadget thing on their blog. Why? Any guess?
