Do you think that simply becoming affiliate of a few programs and promoting them like mad will make you rich like the super affiliate? Because, it is not that easy, like it sounds! Yes, you can start affiliate marketing without your own website and even without any initial cost But, if you want to become a super affiliate and get big checks from affiliate programs, you need to work continuously on gaining knowledge about your market and sharping your affiliate marketing skills. And first of all, you must be able to pick the right affiliate marketing program for yourself. But how? Below, I have listed a few points, that I consider important while picking products or services for affiliate marketing. Read them and try to correlate them with your experience. I am sure that you will know, where you need some attention!
Know Your Target Market:
In order to get big affiliate checks, you must know your target market. You must understand the behavior of your target audience. Why? Because, affiliate marketing is a simple case of offering people what they want or what they need. Why would people buy something they are not in need of? Can you think about pleasing your cat, by giving a bowl of vegetables? I don’t think so. Similarly, in affiliate marketing, can you expect to generate a lot of sales by promoting gold jewelry in make money online niche? Ask it yourself.
Many new affiliates commits this mistake by giving out wrong things to the wrong persons. If you don’t want to join them, start to know your target market. Once you have your target audience, go and offer them the products or services that they wanted to buy.
Know about the Quality of the Products/Services that you are promoting:
One of the most deadly mistakes that many of the new affiliates commits is that they market a product or service that ends up in delivering something that was not promised in the sales letter. This not only decreases your income, but also harms your reputation and credibility. So, it is always wise to examine the product first before recommending it to your target audience. Promote a product or service, only when you feel that it is useful for your target market. Otherwise forget about it. Because there is no scarcity of good products or services related to your niche or target market.
Know the Sales letter and the Marketing materials:
The sales letter is the connection between your affiliate marketing efforts and the profit you are going to make from it. A killer sales letter always gives the best results. While, an ordinary or spammy sales letter increases the chances of ruining all your marketing efforts. Think from customer’s point of view and ask yourself whether you are going to buy that product after reading the contents on the sales letter!
Most affiliate programs offers their affiliates with a number of tools and promotional materials to be used in marketing. Good marketing materials always increases the chances of making a sale. The more materials you have, the more you can focus on marketing.
Know about the Profitability of your affiliate marketing campaign:
The last thing you must consider is how much you will be paid, in relation to your marketing efforts. A higher commission percentage can be a big motivational factor. On the other hand, there is no meaning of promoting a product/service that results in nothing but a few cents per sale? Would you like to use such an affiliate program? Try to find and promote products with a higher end pricing or those that offers residual income. But, don’t forget about the conversion rate. Regularly check your marketing portfolio to drop the poor performers. Some affiliate programs offers excellent bonuses for outstanding performance. Think about them and get paid for your extra effort.

I’ve seen a few blogs recently that made me laugh a bit. I saw a header ad, a sidebar ad, a footer ad, an inline ad, text link ads, and big links saying “buy an ad spot here”.
The big thing that people need to realize, which you mentioned, is that people aren’t stupid! Something that says “BuY mE!!!!!111one” doesn’t sell a product… but informed well written descriptions of how this product will make your life easier/better/whatever can help someone realize that they in fact could make use of this product.
