Google has introduced a new tool in Google Labs that will enable you to see how your visitors view your website or blog. Called Google Browser Size, this new tool is a visualization of browser window sizes for people who visit Google and it tells you what percentage of your visitors can see a content on your site without scrolling. So, it can help you in better placement of important content and links on your website or blog.
Browser Size is based on a sample of data collected from visitors to Google.com. The visualization depicts various browser window sizes with contour maps of different colors. For example, 80% contour means that portion of a web page is visible to 80% of the visitors when they first visit the page. In other words, 20% of visitors can’t see that portion of the web page.

With this tool you can overlay the visualization of browser window sizes on your own website to see what parts of your website are generally visible and what aren’t. To do that visit ‘Google Browser Size’ (look below for the link), type your URL in the “Enter URL here” textbox at the top of the window and click ‘Go’ button.
Note that Browser Size represent the client area sizes (size of the browser without the title bar, toolbars, status bars, etc.). So, it will give a true representation of how much content on your site can be seen by a particular segment of your visitors. This piece of information is very important website design optimization point of view as it may help you in better placement of important content and links on your website or blog.
Right now, Browser Size works best on web pages with a fixed layout aligned to the left. More improvements are expected to be added. So, don’t forget to tell Google what you feel about this tool and how it can be improved.
