Today there are many desktop blogging tools or desktop blog editors available online. Some of them are freeware and others are commercial. Want to use a desktop blog editor for blogging? Looking for a free desktop blogging tool/software? Take a look at my list of free desktop blogging tools. All of them are freeware and you don’t have to spend a dime to enjoy all those features that they offer. Pick one today, improve your blogging experience and earn  money online with your blog.

Before the list, what actually a desktop blogging tool is? Desktop blogging tools or desktop blogging clients are those programs of software that allows you to write and manage your blog(s) from the comfort of your desktop. There are many desktop blogging clients with different features. The common features of most of those blog editors include WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor, image upload, multiple blogs and ability to write and save blog posts even when an Internet connection is not available. Advanced editors include many added features such as video upload, dictionaries, image processor, ad links insertion, feed importer etc.

Desktop blog editors or desktop blogging tools can help a blogger in many ways. But the most important advantage of a desktop blog editor is better time management and improved productivity. When you can write and save your blog posts without connecting to the Internet and when you can post to multiple blogs without manual logins, productivity will definitely increase. So, in my view, even the simplest desktop blog editor can help you improve your overall productivity as a blogger. If you are not using a desktop blog tool for blogging – you are missing something. Try a desktop blogging tool, spend more time on blog post ideas and feel the difference.

  3. That’s because Windows Live Writer is a powerful, but easy to use tool. Like you, I also love my Live Writer! Thanks for your comment.

  4. Good roundup of desktop blogging clients. I’m a fan of WLW, but there are a couple of others I want to have a closer look at.

You mentioned that “Deepest Sender is a blogging client that runs inside Firefox, SeaMonkey, and XULRunner. You can load up Deepest Sender in the Mozilla/Firefox sidebar, and post from there.” If you’re covering browser-based products, what about Scribefire (http://www.scribefire.com/)? Many people swear by it. It’s my preferred blogging client when I’m not at my own desktop.
