I just came across a new microblogging platform called Rejaw. It looks like Twitter, but offers some interesting and unique features that will enable you to chat in real-time with your friends, family, and co-workers. Rejaw allows up to 1000 characters per message and links, images and videos can be easily embedded into the messages. It is a free service and anyone can join a conversation, even without a Rejaw account.

The sign up process is very simple and requires only your user name, email address and password. After activation of your account, it offers you to automatically find friends from your Facebook profile and Gmail contacts. As they used official Facebook and Google APIs, you can find and add your friends without giving out your passwords. You can skip it and use anytime. Once on your dashboard, you can start chatting!

There are two types of posts - Shouts and Whispers. Shouts are sent to all of your followers and appears on public timeline. But whispers are direct and private messages sent only to selective recipients. Rejaw allows its users to write up to 1000 characters per message. Every conversation on Rejaw has it’s own permalink and you can use it to invite other people to join your conversation. Shout and whispers without activity for 3 days are automatically closed and put into static archives. From your dashboard, you can see all your shouts, whispers, followers and people you are following.
The good thing about Rejaw is that you can easily embed links, images, videos and pictures into your posts. Just enter the URL of an image or a YouTube video and post it. The image or video will automatically appear on your timeline. This really makes Rejaw an interesting microblogging platform.
Rejaw has released a desktop application called Rejaw Radar, which will keep you up-to-date with the latest shouts, whispers and replies on Rejaw. Well, right now it is available for Mac only! For developers they offers full API. So, in future we can expect to see some cool third party apps and services for Rejaw.
