Twitturly : Tracking the Hot URLs on Twitter

Last week, I came across a new service that tracks all the popular URLs on Twitter. I found it interesting and thought about sharing the information with my readers. The service that I am talking about is called Twitt(url)y, or twitturly. It basically tracks the links on Twitter and displays the hot URLs that people are talking about on Twitter.

Twitturly

Like Digg, Twitturly gives votes to URLs and lists the top ranked URLs on it’s home page. But here, instead of voting on our site, you vote by participating on twitter. With every vote the ranking of an URL goes up. Each time that you send a link to your followers on Twitter, Twitturly takes a note of it and applies your vote to that URL. They do this with the help of their spiders, that visit every single site before displaying on Twitturly.

Interestingly, this service can track all the URL-shortening services and correctly trace the actual URLs. So, whether you use TinyURL, Snipurl or the direct Twitter link, your votes will automatically be counted by this interesting tool. And to make it more interesting, Twitturly only shows the 100 most popular URLs over the last 24 hours. Visit the home page of Twitturly and know about the hottest URLs on Twitter!
