Digg.com or simply Digg is one of the most popular sources of information on the Web. Digg was founded by Kevin Rose and launched in November 2004. It is all about sharing and discovery of content, where people can discover and share any content from anywhere on the web. It is an interesting source to discover new websites or blogs. Digg is also a good source for huge web traffic.

Everything on Digg is submitted by it’s members. From the biggest portals to the smallest personal blogs, Digg shows the best stuffs as voted on by the members. The value of a submitted content is determined by the community, in the form of votes or Diggs.

From news to videos to images to Podcasts, you can submit anything on Digg. First your submission will appear on the Upcoming section of a particular category. If your submission is appreciated by the community and receives enough Diggs, it is posted on the front page of Digg.com. A front page submission means, millions of visit to that particular web page. So, Digg is considered as one of the most important social bookmarking tool, by most of the webmasters and bloggers.

Technology, Science, World & Business, Sports, Entertainment and Gaming are the main categories for news in Digg. Each main category has many sub-categories. It helps users to find contents easily. Apart from news, Digg shows Videos and Podcasts under a variety of sub-categories.

Some quick tips on using Digg:

 

  • Know Digg. Read the FAQs.
  • Never try to use Digg for spamming. You may end up in ban.
  • Avoid submitting your own content. If some interesting posts are there, you can submit them. But never do it regularly.
